St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital Names New Vice President of Operations

Ronald LaPensee has been named vice president of operations for St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital (SLEH). LaPensee will be responsible for Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Main Emergency, Community Emergency Centers, Security, Food and Nutrition and Pharmacy. His appointment is effective immediately.

“St. Luke’s has a very strong leadership and management team. This, combined with an outstanding nursing and medical staff, positions the organization to successfully address future market challenges and the impact of healthcare reform. I am excited to join this very fine and reputable healthcare organization and delivery system,’ said LaPensee.

Prior to joining St. Luke’s, LaPensee assisted in the management and liquidation of family-owned Donnellan Family Funeral Services. He was previously executive vice president/chief operating officer at St. John’s Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. He was responsible for operations, including a 650 bed urban teaching hospital and 99 bed satellite community hospital, corporate and regulatory compliance and design/build/renovation and construction on a new patient care tower.  He also has held management positions with St. Francis Care in Hartford, West Virginia University Hospital and Metropolitan Hospital and Health Centers in Detroit.

LaPensee holds a Masters in Public Health from Yale University, Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts Boston (formerly Boston State College) and an Associate’s degree in applied sciences from Worsham College.
