Van Bree Elected to Statewide Hospital Association Board

Margaret M. Van Bree, M.H.A., DrPH, CEO of St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and senior vice president of St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System in Houston, has been elected to the Texas Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees. She will take office on Jan. 1 for a three-year term.

Before joining St. Luke’s in 2009, Van Bree served as senior vice president and chief operating officer at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison. Concurrent with serving in management roles, she also has held academic appointments at several universities and has taught extensively in the areas of health care management and quality.

Van Bree is a member of the University HealthSystem Consortium and currently serves on the Research Task Force, focused on preparing academic health centers for the challenges of health care reform. She previously served as council chair of the consortium’s Senior Operations Officers Steering Committee.

Van Bree earned a bachelor’s degree in community health education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, a master’s degree in hospital administration from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health in Minneapolis, and a doctor of public health degree from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, La.
