Texas Heart ® Institute at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital Hosts Educational Seminar “Heart Disease: How Women Can Beat the Odds”

The Texas Heart ® Institute (THI) at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital is hosting a complimentary lecture focusing on Heart Disease: How Women Can Beat the Odds. During the lecture, Stephanie Coulter, MD, director of THI’s Center for Women’s Heart & Vascular Health, will discuss how women can beat the odds, and what can be done to help. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death for women and men. Women are more likely to be affected, with nearly 43 million American women living with some form of CVD. In Texas alone, approximately 1 million women are living with the disease, which kills one woman every 20 minutes. CVD, also known as heart and vascular disease, includes heart attack, heart failure, stroke, peripheral artery disease and other diseases of the heart and circulatory system. Most women are unaware of their risk.
