St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, First Hospital in Houston and Second in Texas, to Earn ISO9001:2008 Certification
St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital (SLEH) is the first hospital in Houston and the second in Texas to be awarded the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certification. This prestigious recognition was bestowed in conjunction with hospital accreditation under the DNV Healthcare NIAHO® accreditation program, the first Medicare-approved hospital accreditation program integrating the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation for hospitals.
“As the first hospital in Houston to be awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification, St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital continues to demonstrate ongoing dedication to patient care and clinical quality,” said Margaret M. The ISO 9001:2008 certification is based on an audit completed in March 2012 of SLEH’s compliance with the requirements for a quality management system as identified under the American National Standard. The three fundamentals for the Quality Management System requirements are providing consistent patient care, improving patient satisfaction and continually improving goal-based performance. ISO certification is valid for three years during which SLEH will be evaluated annually with an accreditation survey.
