Caught in the Middle: Caring for an Elderly Parent and Your Kids

Victor Narcisse, MD, a hospitalist at St. Luke’s Medical Center, will present the webinar, “Caught in the Middle: Caring for an Elderly Parent and Your Kids” from  noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 12.

The free webinar is hosted by The Women’s Fund, a non-profit organization providing Houston area women and girls the tools they need to be advocates for their health.

With an estimated 80 percent of long-term care in the United States provided by informal caregivers – the majority of them women – most Americans will become caregivers at some point in their lives. In addition to caring for an elderly parent, many of these caregivers also are caring for their own families and working, and they may be stretched to their limits.

This webinar will provide information for those who may be called upon to step into the caregiver’s role, common physical and mental health characteristics of the geriatric patient, and tips on being proactive with a parent’s care while taking care of oneself.
