William C. Watters III, MD Named President of North American Spine Society

CHI St. Luke’s Health Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center announced today that William C. Watters III, MD, MMS, has been named president of the North American Spine Society (NASS).
 
Dr. Watters is a clinical associate professor for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
 
“It’s an honor to have been elected president of the North American Spine Society,” said Dr. Watters. “I hope to help guide the world’s largest multispecialty spinal society in a meaningful manner to achieve a series of goals.” 

Dr. Watters has completed residencies in both Orthopedic Surgery and Internal Medicine, and has received advanced training in spinal surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He has served on major committees for organizations, such as the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery (AAOS) and American Board of Spine Surgery, and holds a position on the Board of Advisors for World Spine Care. Dr. Watters is the author of numerous books and articles regarding spinal disease and travels internationally to speak about the subject.

NASS is dedicated to fostering the highest quality, evidenced-based and ethical spine care by promoting education, research and advocacy. It is comprised of more than 9,000 members from several disciplines, including orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, physiatry, neurology, radiology, anesthesiology, research and physical therapy.
