CHI St. Luke’s Health–The Woodlands Hospital Appoints Chief Medical Officer

Syed A. Raza, MD, has been named Chief Medical Officer at CHI St. Luke’s Health–The Woodlands Hospital

“Dr. Raza is a highly respected physician who has been a key contributor to the growth of our hospital,” said David Argueta, FACHE, president, CHI St. Luke’s Health–The Woodlands Hospital. “His experience and guidance will be a true asset as he works collaboratively with our leadership team and medical staff.”

For the past eight years, Dr. Raza has served as Associate Chief of Medicine and Chief Hospitalist for the primary hospitalist group at the hospital. He is now a member of the CHI St. Luke’s Health–Medical Group in The Woodlands.

In 2006, he started one of only two hospitalist practices in The Woodlands area. He also established the hospitalist group at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital.

“As chief medical officer, I will be identifying strategies to strengthen and advance our quality and patient safety projects to provide the best medical care to every patient, every time,” said Dr. Raza. “My goal is to analyze our patient outcomes and accountability efforts to ensure alignment with our culture of care.”

In addition to significant professional accomplishments, Dr. Raza has served as Chairman of Medicine at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital and Chief of Staff at Reliant Rehab Hospital. Dr. Raza earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Texas at Austin. He received a medical degree and completed his internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine. Currently, he is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
