The award, created by Baylor St. Luke’s Staff Nurse Professional Practice Council (SNPPC), recognizes the role of collegiality and collaboration in physician and nurse job satisfaction, as well as improved patient outcomes evident as a result of effective multidisciplinary communication. “It’s an incredible honor to receive recognition from our nurses,” said Dr. Castillo. “The relationships we have with our nursing staff is key to delivering outstanding patient care.”

Dr. Castillo completed his anesthesiology training at Boston University, followed by a Baylor College of Medicine fellowship in Cardiovascular Anesthesiology at Texas Heart® Institute (THI), and subsequently a Harvard Medical School Critical Care Fellowship at Beth Israel and Deacones Medical Center. He joined CHI St. Luke’s Health over a year ago, where he specializes in Cardiovascular Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, the National Board of Echocardiography–Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiology, and the Critical Care Medicine Board.
