In the summer of 2000, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System’s first freestanding emergency center – located at 2727 West Holcombe Blvd. and operated as part of St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital – opened it doors to provide emergency care to the community in a location outside of the Texas Medical Center.
St. Luke’s Community Emergency Center (CEC) - Holcombe soon became a model for St. Luke’s to offer its unique brand of freestanding emergency care in the community. Since opening on July 1, 2000, more than 270,000 patients have been treated at the CEC - Holcombe location. Today, five CECs are operated by St. Luke’s hospitals in the Greater Houston area – San Felipe at Winrock, The Woodlands, Pearland, The Vintage (located off of Highway 249 in Northwest Houston) and Holcombe.
“Our goal is to bring St. Luke’s quality emergency care to where people live and work,” said Joseph Robertson, Service Line Director, Community Emergency Centers. “Our feedback from patients is that St. Luke’s CECs provide high quality care, service and professionalism.”
All of the St. Luke’s CECs are staffed by board-certified physicians and emergency-trained nurses, and provide on-site clinical laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging services. The CECs provide medical treatment to patients of all ages 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including all holidays. No appointments are accepted.
