Financial Considerations for Transplant

Going through the transplantation process requires detailed financial planning. Knowing in advance what to expect is an essential part of the process. In addition to pre-transplant costs, patients must consider the lifelong costs of medications, follow-up visits and periodic testing.  Our financial counselors are committed to helping you assess these costs and explaining all options available.

Important note if you are already a patient:
We recommend you call your assigned Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center financial counselor before your evaluation if you:

  • Have any questions regarding your insurance
  • Do not have insurance
  • Do not have benefits for transplantation
  • Are denied coverage for a transplant
  • Would like to discuss other financial assistance options

INTRODUCTION
Our financial counselors help you assess costs and other aspects of your transplant experience. They will help determine how much your insurance will pay and how much your out-of-pocket expenses will be.  The financial counselors will also assist you in locating resources to help with the costs of transplant.
